Empower Energies Inc., a Maryland-based clean energy development and financing company, has announced the completion of the Patua solar power project, a 14.5 MW solar array in Churchill County, Utah. The project supplements an existing geothermal power plant owned by CYRQ Energy, a Salt Lake City-based renewable energy company.
Empower says it advised CYRQ on the development and design of the Patua solar project, including the selection of the solar equipment, which included approximately 45,360 photovoltaic panels, and the EPC for the construction and commissioning of the project. As construction manager, Empower’s development and operations team assisted CYRQ with optimizing the design of the project, overseeing supply chain management issues, and managing the project construction schedule with the EPC. The project was completed at the end of July, ahead of schedule and under budget, according to Empower.
“We were very impressed with the expertise and support we received from Empower Energies in working with our team on the design and completion of this critical project,” says Nick Goodman, CEO of CYRQ Energy. “We look forward to continuing to work with Empower on other solar projects to support our geothermal activities in the U.S.”
“The Patua project is a prime example of the strength of Empower’s flexible business model in the clean energy industry,” says John Clapp, President and CFO of Empower Energies. “We are able to deploy our development and operations teams to deliver high quality solar and related clean energy projects throughout the U.S. for customers whether they intend to own the project themselves, like CYRQ Energy, or seek third-party financing through our DG Fund.”
